Facial rejuvenation without surgery

Facial rejuvenation without surgery treatment at Clínica Sanza in Barcelona, Spain, consists of improving both the quality of the skin and the flaccidity and facial wrinkles.

Rejuvenating includes prevention and healthy habits to the treatment of small wrinkles stains and flaccidity. In other terms, all the signs of early aging that bother us and which we want to correct.

Sometimes we can use aesthetical medical treatments and other times,  aesthetical surgical treatments.

Medical aesthetical treatments:

  • Botox
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Peelings
  • Laser
  • Radio frequency
  • Dermo abrasion
  • Vitamins
  • Tensing threads

…and a few other treatments.

Aesthetical medical treatments improve small imperfections, however, big differential changes will not be accomplished on very aged faces.

The above treatments all need a continuous and progressive application and control for them to be effective.

If a patient is consistent, he can achieve great results (similar to taking care of himself in a gym), that is, little by little, the results become noticeable.

For patients that do not want to be in continuous treatment and want a more dramatical change, we offer the facial lifting, minilifting or weekend lift.

The surgical treatments are long lasting and more evident.

Clínica Sanza uses the combination of the two types of treatments, surgical and non-surgical, as we believe it’s the best option to improve our image and imperfections.

Patients that want to improve or rejuvenate their physical image.

Aesthetical medicine treats the patient directly in our surgery. We use a range of treatments, such as, injectables, creams and special technological equipment.

When we use surgical methods, the patient undergoes local anaesthesia or sedation with a same day leave, enabling us to reposition facial muscle and skin which is flaccid.

Clínica Sanza recommends the Weekend lift, which combines the two types of treatments, surgical and non-surgical, providing the best results, without using an aggressive and unnecessary alternative treatment. With this, we can provide a beautiful, natural and elegant finish and results.

  • Our medical aesthetical treatments can last from 10 minutes to 1 hour.
  • The weekend loft and the facial liftings range between 2 hours to 4 hours of surgery.

  • Evaluation of the treated area.
  • Strictly follow the Doctor’s recommendations and guide throughout preparation and evaluation.
  • Preop tests, if needed, which reassure the health of the patient and avoid complications.

  • Local for medical aesthetical treatments.
  • Local and sedation for facial lifting and weekend lift.

  • The medical-aesthetic treatments of facial rejuvenation do not require hospitalization.

  • Medical aesthetical treatments range from 1 to 3 days depending on the technique and intensity.
  • Facial liftings can range between 1 to 2 weeks depending on the used technique in surgery.
  • Surgery requires an exhaustive post-operation control with revisions and medication during 1 to 2 weeks.

  • With medical-aesthetical treatments, the results can appear between 15 to 30 days, however there will need to be a continuous application of treatments for the progressive results and duration.
  • We recommend 2 to 4 sessions for the majority of treatments, by accumulative effect.
  • Aesthetical surgery, such as, facial lifting, we will see the results immediately. However, there will be a need of recovery and an initial swelling and bruising.
  • Nevertheless, in both types of treatments, the physique will be improved and rejuvenated.

  • Medical aesthetical treatments: low.
  • Facial liftings: medium.

  • They are very low if the patient is well informed and follows the advice and controls set by the doctor.
  • Nevertheless, there is always a minimum risk of bleeding, infection, wound alteration or a delay in the recovery (rarely).

Frequently asked questions about facelift surgery

What is a weekend lift or facelift?

Facial rejuvenation surgery, also known as a facelift, weekend lift, facelift, rhytidoplasty, rhytidectomy, and facelift, is a very popular surgical procedure in facial plastic surgery to improve tissue sagging due to loss of skin tension, facial muscles (SMAS). In the procedure the skin is stretched and the excess is removed, the muscles can also be tightened if necessary thus making the skin smoother and firmer.

Who are the candidates for a facelift?

Any patient who feels the need to improve their flaccid facial appearance. The moment signs of skin flaccidity begin to appear, and undesirable wrinkles with falling tissues, and regardless of age or sex. Premature flaccidity due to genetics, weight loss or age.

What are the risks of this surgery?

As any surgical procedure there are risks, although they are rare. The most frequent is the hematoma, which can be visualized the first 24 hours and easy to resolve. Damage to deep facial structures (nerves or vessels) is a potential complication of face lift, highly unlikely in experienced hands. Abnormal scarring or loss of skin on the edges of the wound are more frequent in smokers, so we recommend and indicate to stop or decrease the tobacco the same day before and after surgery.

How long does the surgery take?

The time of surgery is individualized by each patient, the type of intervention and the extent of it, but on average we can say that a facelift lasts between 2 and 4 hours.

What type of anesthesia is used?

The procedure is done in the operating room with local anesthesia and sedation. The patient is asleep without noticing anything at all. It is essential for us the patient’s comfort and that he does not feel any painful stimulus.

Do I need hospitalization?

In Sanza Clinic we perform innovative and minimally invasive techniques so that the patient can return home the same day, except in special medical conditions or that the patient requires, we leave 1 or 2 days in the hospital.

How’s the post-op?

Postoperative for the first 24 hours is painless. We place a bandage that we remove the day after the operation. Inflammation and some bruising may occur. The recovery is quick and the patient can return to his normal activities very soon, after 10 days we remove the stitches. And on average, the patient can return to work after 1 or 2 weeks.

What are the scars like?

The least visible areas are located, following the rim of the ear, the base of the lobe and extending towards the back of the auricle and the natural hairline if required. The final length varies depending on whether a full facelift (face and neck) or a mini lift is performed. Except in exceptional cases, the scars must be erased with the passage of time until they become practically imperceptible.

How long do the results last?

On average, facial lifitng results tend to last between 5 and 10 years, after which patients may opt to undergo a touch-up procedure. However, it will always have a more youthful appearance than would correspond by nature. The aging process continues after surgery and it is normal that it does not look as good at year 5 as it would at year 10 after surgery, but it will always have a better appearance than if it had not been operated on.

Why do people look so stretched or fake?

Each patient chooses the color of their hair, the way they make up and dress. The same goes for surgery. There are patients who want to be very smooth, even if it’s false. The same goes for large, round breasts. We recommend naturalness and elegance, i.e. discretion and small stretching, especially on the face. On the contrary if we consider elegant a very smooth and firm neck in both men and women. The neck does not change the expression of the face and always gives a very youthful and elegant appearance.
