PATIENT PROFILE
People who wish to increase the contour of their shoulders and cannot achieve it through exercise or sport.
Malformations or accidents that cause atrophy or poor development of one or both shoulders.
PROCEDURE
Shoulder prostheses require a meticulous technique and a correct previous evaluation of each particular case, in order to adapt the final result to the patient’s wishes, evaluating the volume, the projection, the physical constitution and the quality of the skin, among other factors. From this primary evaluation, the type of prosthesis and the volume that best suits the patient’s wishes will be defined.
A single implant can be placed under the deltoid or implants can be placed in each shoulder to mark the anterior, lateral and posterior muscle belly of each shoulder.
The surgical procedure may vary in terms of where the implant will be inserted, as well as the anatomical plane in which it will be placed. Once the implant is placed, the incision is sutured and drains are placed, which will remain in place for 24 hours.
At Clínica Sanza, we usually place the implants in the armpits and under the deltoid muscle.
This procedure can be done in conjunction with other types of prostheses such as triceps, biceps or pectoral prostheses.
DURATION OF THE INTERVENTION

PROTOCOL
Preoperative
- Evaluation of the area to determine the adequacy of the treatment.
- Follow specific guidelines determined by the doctor
- CBC and tests on cardiac and respiratory status
Anesthesia
- Local and sedation, or GA
Hospitalization
- Ambulatory or 24 h admission
Postoperative
- Drainage and compressive bandage for 24-48 h.
- Special girdle to avoid hematomas and liquid collections for 2 or 3 weeks.
- Withdrawal of points if rejected, although this does not usually happen.
- Medication if required
- Mandatory check-ups after a few days, a few weeks and a few months, according to prescription
Convalescence
- Removal of the special girdle in 10-15 days
- Normal activity at 24 h without forced movements or heavy lifting
- Resumption of physical exercise one month after surgery and in a progressive manner.
