Currently, hyaluronic acid has positioned itself as one of the most effective and most commonly used techniques against ageing, resulting in a skin without wrinkles, with an smoother, brighter and more youthful appareance.

What is hyaluronic acid?

It is a protein which is founded naturaly in our body. Especially in the skin called dermis. But also in other places such as cartilage, joints and muscle fibers.  By being within our tissues, it does not generate rejection and it does not require allergy tests prior to its administration.

Hyaluronic acid has a great ability to retain water, giving skin firmness and moisture.

All hyaluronic acids have the property of being resorbable, viscoelastic, biocompatible and non-immunogenic.

As we age we lose the capacity of producing hyaluronic acid, in such a way that the skin does not retain water as efficiently as in youth. As a result there will be a loss of the skin volume and appearance of wrinkles.

Which are the benefits of hyaluronic acid?

Which types of hyaluronic acid do we use in aesthetic medicine?

There are 2 types of hyaluronic acid depending on the desired results:

  1. Not cross-linked hyaluronic acid
  2. Cross-linked hyaluronic acid

Crosslink makes reference to the degree of cross-linking that hyaluronic acid molecules have, which allow the total customization of treatments, depending  on if we want to moisturize, soften, or give volume more or less durable to some facial areas. We will explain it later.
