PATIENT PROFILE

People with very clear or wide foreheads, very wrinkled foreheads, drooping eyebrows and nasal roots that need to be raised, or when botulinum toxin has no effect, or simply when the patient does not wish to use botulinum toxin every 4 or 6 months.

PROCEDURE

A forehead lift is a surgical procedure that predates the advent of botulinum toxin. Today we use much more modern and less aggressive techniques that offer better results than before.

The incisions can be hidden inside the scalp when the forehead is short, or in the first hairline when we want to shorten the distance of a wide forehead, or bring the scalp forward to cover the wide forehead.

If the scar remains visible, it can always be hidden with unifollicular hair micrografts that will grow perfectly on the scar and hide it completely.

The forehead lift can be done alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as facelift, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty…, depending on what you want to modify the face.

Frequently asked questions about forehead lift

Although it is a very simple procedure, it must always be performed in an operating room, there is no hair loss. It is not necessary to shave or cut any segment of the hair. The incisions are minimal and thanks to the endoscopic technique, the procedure is very precise. The endoscopic forehead lift can correct frown lines, eliminate wrinkles and excess skin and lift the eyebrows. This surgery can be performed alone or in combination with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or facelift. It is an outpatient procedure, under local anesthesia and mild sedation, with spectacular and very natural results.
We consider that there is no typical age to perform this type of procedure, but rather problems that require a solution, however, the average age at which a frontal lift is performed is from the age of 40. It must be taken into account that there are particular genetic conditions, weight fluctuations, skin quality, external and environmental aggressions that generate stigmata that require solutions, independent of the person’s age. At Clinica Sanza we are proponents (when possible) of small corrections in time, rather than radical changes, which translates into more natural results and a more youthful appearance, with simpler and more effective procedures.
The endoscopic forehead lift is one of the procedures that achieves the most natural and satisfactory results. The permanence of these results depends on the combination of the aging rhythm of each patient; and the interaction of defending factors (hydration, antioxidants, etc.); and aggressors (smoking, sun exposure, pollution, etc.) of our organism. However, according to Clinica Sanza’s experience, we could assign an average of 7 to 15 years of results.
Fortunately in Clinica Sanza we have extensive experience with this type of minimally invasive interventions, which is a gentle, simple procedure with a short postoperative period and almost no discomfort, which is perfectly controlled by oral analgesics during the first 3 to 5 days.
Although it is a simple procedure, some swelling and bruising may appear in the temporal area, eyelids and nose. Once these signs disappear, usually within 5 to 7 days, you can resume your daily activities and social interaction.
The surgical time varies whether we perform an endoscopic facelift alone or combine it with other procedures such as blepharoplasty or facelift, although the average time of the intervention varies between one and two hours. After the operation, you will remain for a period of time in the recovery area of Clinica Sanza and then you will be able to return home.
The procedure is ambulatory, however, after the intervention we place a compressive bandage on the intervened area, which we remove 24 hours after the intervention. Once the bandage has been removed, it is advisable to go for check-ups after 3 days to assess the evolution and then evaluations after a week and 15 days to remove the stitches and check for improvement.
Absolute rest is not necessary, but we advise relative rest during the first 3 days. We also advise sleeping on the back, with discreet elevation of the upper body and face to reduce swelling. Feeding after the first day may be normal, although hard foods that require too much effort to bite or chew should be avoided for at least the first 3 days.
In case of swelling and small bruises after the endoscopic facelift, we recommend a few sessions of manual lymphatic drainage to accelerate the recovery process and above all not to expose yourself to the sun until the bruises disappear.
You can wash your hair with antiseptic shampoo on the 3rd day after the intervention, to avoid the accumulation of grease or sebum from the hair on the stitches, we recommend drying with a hair dryer with cold air to keep the wounds dry after cleansing, we do not recommend applying dyes or making sweeteners or straightening until 3 weeks after the intervention.
